The Boutique Experience
Many families begin searching for a photographer, uncertain of the experience that they’ll have or what to expect. It is my goal to make you comfortable and at ease during your session. I have a complete, professional studio located in a private area of my home. This makes for a comfortable atmosphere with the privacy and quiet that we need to make great newborn art.
When you come in, you’ll find a coffee bar, snacks, and cold water readily available. This might be handy during your 9AM newborn session after a long night of taking care of a baby. If you’d rather sleep, you are welcome to take a nap on the studio couch while I take care of your newborn. I really just want you to feel welcomed, and know that your baby is safe in my hands.
Props and Styling
My artwork is important to me and I’m absolutely passionate about newborns. For this reason, I’ve spent a great deal of time selecting the props that I use in my newborn and baby sessions. I have a large collection of outfits, headbands, wraps, bonnets, tiebacks, wooden props, textured blankets, furs, and backdrops. Of course, the ever-popular moose shed is also my own personal prop. Almost every client requests to use it in their session. In addition, I am building a wardrobe of maternity gowns for client use. This collection allows me to deliver artistic maternity and newborn photos to my clients. Families rarely provide their own props for sessions, but if this is something that you hope to do, please be sure to bring the item to your consultation so that we can discuss it.
Hair and makeup styling is also available upon request for your maternity, newborn, or family session. I have two preferred stylists that enjoy meeting clients in their home or at the studio to make them look and feel great.
Finished Products & Heirlooms
I am a full service photographer, and I strongly believe that artwork belongs on your walls and in heirloom print products. Newborn photography is an investment in your family’s history. Devices break, CDs get left in drawers, and digital files get lost. This really, truly does happen! Having photographs printed in a timely manner and on quality products is very important.
I have carefully selected print products that compliment and showcase my work. The products are part of the artistry in what I do. For wall art, I offer several authentic barn-wood frame designs, wood block prints, or classic canvas. During your ordering appointment I’ll help you to visualize what your portraits will look like on your own walls. We’ll create a gallery that shows off your favorite images and has the flexibility to grow with future babies. My heirloom albums allow us to create a custom product containing your entire gallery of images. From cover to page design, we’ll create a customized heirloom that brings out the tones and colors of your portraits while giving you a portable option to show off your baby. Leather or linen covers are bound to thick, sturdy pages, and each page is coated with archival protection to make it last a lifetime.
When you hire me to photograph your child, you are getting so much more than a photographer. You are hiring an artist who cares about your family and wants to create artwork to be proud of.
