The Mead family signed up to be models for a family-maternity session when we did our promotional video shoot in September. We had planned to have our videographer back for their newborn session, but the tricky thing with hiring a crazy-talented birth photographer for your promo film is that she may get called away to a birth. That’s exactly what happened. Birth photographers are always on call. So instead, we had a quiet morning to ourselves. Just a newborn photographer and another sweet family.
Leslie and Jesse kept the gender of their baby a surprise, so we began by planning the neutrals for their session. They were very open to just letting me choose the styling of the shoot, but one thing they for sure wanted to include was my moose shed. This prop is always requested by dads. When Jesse sent a text, letting me know that they had a baby girl, I pulled out some girly textures and headbands for their little Gwendolyn. As a boutique newborn photographer, I am used to customizing my sessions to my clients’ preferences, but Jesse and Leslie pretty much told me to pick what I thought was best. I think this peach fabric and floral headband were just prefect for Gwendolyn’s peachy skin tone, and I’m in love with the resulting images.
Gwendolyn’s big brother, Dominic, was eager to pose with his sister on the morning of our session. We swaddled baby sis, and Dominic held onto the little bundle with some hidden support. He did so great holding his baby sister, and he truly showed his personality for their sibling photo. Leslie came back to the studio to select their images that afternoon, and I was so happy that she chose this shot. I knew when he grabbed his own toes that it was going to be my favorite too. Dominic is such a sweet big brother. Jesse and Leslie have so much to be proud of. They have a beautiful, little family.
