The really neat thing about capturing maternity and family sessions at Valley of Fire State Park, is that there are so many different looking spots that we can use. Because that golden hour sun is always what I seek, this open area serves me well in every Valley of Fire maternity session. That light is just so dreamy, and of course it helps to have a momma who shows up looking as glam as she did. I’d give her the slightest posing direction and she’d just do her cover girl thing. So gorgeous!
When Danielle came out for her maternity session, she expressed that she really wanted the red rocks to pop in her photos. I knew just the place to do that. This area is one that we could surround her with high walls of red rock, and pose her for beautiful maternity portraits. With high walls, the light falls a little cooler and sharper here. She just looked so beautiful.
I really don’t mind shooting at multiple locations within Valley of State Park, because the drive from either place to the next is so scenic and breath taking. We quite often spot wildlife during our sessions too, which is a delight for every client. The big horn sheep below were spotted on way way into the park earlier that day to pay my permit fee and check in with the rangers. Danielle didn’t get a peek at them, as they’d moved on by the time her session began, but families on past maternity shoots have had them cross the road right in front of them. It’s always such a neat experience at Valley of Fire.
