Baby K’s mom was so excited to begin planning his Star Wars cake smash session with me. She is a big Star Wars fan. His mom gave me creative freedom with this custom cake smash theme, so I got to have fun designing his birthday backdrop from scratch.
For the Star Wars cake smash session, I decided that a black seamless backdrop was the best base for set design. Adhering stars to the paper backdrop made it look a little more like outer space. I then constructed a balloon banner with black, silver, and white balloons, adding in some Star Wars birthday decorations. The cake was created by Retro Bakery. However, I crafted the Star Wars topper to tie it all together.
Some babies are hesitant to try their first birthday cake, but K was not one of them. He dove right in! He peeled the icing stars off and dug into the vanilla cake. I like to end cake smash sessions with a splash bath. In his case that bath was a necessity, but also adorable. I loved creating this Star Wars cake smash session for K!
